Château de Benauge
AOC Bordeaux Supérieur Rouge
Standing at the highest point of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the 16th-century castle has towered over the vineyards of Bordeaux for more than a thousand years. It has a rich and exciting history; for example, it was a stronghold of resistance during the Gascony revolt in the autumn of 1253. In 1426, a royal decision by Henry VI, the king of France and England, officially made the viscounty an earldom or county, the Comté de Benauge. Château de Benauge has been a listed historical monument since 1995. Passionately dedicated winegrowers, the Ackers pour all their know-how in to coaxing out the full expression of this outstanding terroir. Their love of the vineyard and work well done has made Château de Benauge one of the flagship estates of the appellation.
