Château de Benauge - Cuvée des Seigneurs

AOC Bordeaux Supérieur Red

Standing at the highest point of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the 16th-century castle has towered over the vineyards of Bordeaux for more than a thousand years. It has a rich and exciting history; for example, it was a stronghold of resistance during the Gascony revolt in the autumn of 1253. In 1426, a royal decision by Henry VI, the king of France and England, officially made the viscounty an earldom or county, the Comté de Benauge. Château de Benauge has been a listed historical monument since 1995. Passionately dedicated winegrowers, the Ackers pour all their know-how in to coaxing out the full expression of this outstanding terroir. Their love of the vineyard and work well done has made Château de Benauge one of the flagship estates of the appellation.

    VINTAGE 2016

A beautiful, deep red with purple tints. The nose is complex and elegant, opening with strong, ripe berried fruit aromas – blackberry and raspberry – combined with notes of fresh spice. The fruit-forward palate is silky and rich, nicely balanced by a touch of freshness and borne along by fine tannins that reinforce the charm and elegance of this wine – the result of perfectly ripened Merlot grapes. A marvellous match for charcuterie, red meat in sauce or grilled, hard cheeses and slightly spicy dishes.

    To drink from 2018.
