Château Landrieu

AOC Bordeaux Supérieur Red

Situated at the heart of the Bordeaux winegrowing area, the estate owned by the Burliga family lies in Beychac-et-Caillau a few dozen kilometres from Saint-Emilion. Here, it all began in 1984, with six hectares, when Jacques Burliga bought Château La Lande de Taleyran. He wanted to make wine with the sole objective of producing quality. The business expanded with the takeover of three further estates, including Château LANDRIEU in 1993. Arnaud Burliga, the family’s sole heir, also fell in love with the nectar known as wine. His passion prompted him to study œnology, agronomy and trade. He worked in a number of prestigious châteaux, such as Château Lamothe and Château La Cardonne (an estate formerly owned by the famous Lafitte-Rothschild family) to perfect his winemaking skills, and for two years held down the post of winery manager in Oregon in the United States. Enriched by all these experiences, he joined his father on the family estate in 2005. In 2008, the family invested in a modern winery facility of 1,200m². Keen to protect the environment and biodiversity, the family deploys the whole spectrum of integrated farming and organic farming techniques to ensure long life to consumers, its employees and the soil.

    TASTING NOTES

Born of a vintage year in Bordeaux and displaying beautiful deep hue with slightly brick tints, this wine unveils intense, harmonious black fruit (black cherry and blackberry) with earthy and cigar-box fragrances. The palate is beguilingly round and mouth-filling. Silky, already well-integrated tannins pave the way to a lingering, pleasing finish.

    TASTING NOTES

Beautifully intense, deep purple with slightly vermilion tints. On the nose, this Merlot-dominated (70%) Bordeaux Supérieur offers a subtle combination of vanilla and jammy red fruit (strawberry, cherry). The same fruits are present at the frank, well-balanced attack. Nice balance at the mid-palate too, with a hint of freshness and supple, rounded tannins. The fruit returns at the finish, alongside velvety tannins.

    To drink from 2017.

    TASTING NOTES

This 2015, a vintage of exceptional climatic conditions in Bordeaux, is a beautiful sombre red with deep purple tints. Generous, complex bouquet, with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry clearly discernible with a hint of spice in the background. The impression on the palate is one of a creamy, smooth wine with fine length and structure thanks to beautifully balanced tannins. A harmonious whole that closes with a soft, balanced finish of jammy fruit notes.
