Clos Beard AOC Saint-Emilion Red - Technical sheet

Clos Beard

AOC Saint-Emilion Red

This tiny family estate at the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation is remarkably well-situated, lying at the foot of a south-facing slope in the village of Saint-Laurent des Combes, where it enjoys the advantages of a naturally outstanding terroir. Some vine plants are more than 80 years old. Jean-Paul Borderie pours all his expertise and love for the soil into farming the estate, which he tends using integrated farming methods.

    VINTAGE 2016

Sombre-hued with dark purple tints, both the nose and the palate of this Clos Beard are redolent of red-berried fruit, these notes evolving into a harmonious marriage of spices and floral fragrances. The palate is ample and fruity, and underpinned with oaky notes imparting roundness, elegance and perfect balance. Reposing on a smooth but powerful tannic structure, this is a succulent wine for pleasure, the result of the excellent 2016 vintage.

To drink from 2019. Will be excellent after a few years' patient cellaring.
