Domaine de Pellehaut L'Escoubasso

IGP Côtes de Gascogne Sweet white

The dialect word “escoubasso” means conclusion, a job done, completion. In Gascony, the “escoubasso” is the big meal held to celebrate the end of the harvest. At Domaine de Pellehaut, the blocks of Petit Manseng are the last to be harvested (late October). This is why, in the Armagnac appellation and at Château de Pellehaut, we celebrate the end of the grape harvest with an escoubasso!

    TASTING NOTES

A distinctive intense yellow hue with golden tints. The beguilingly expressive bouquet of jammy citrus fruit and overripe tropical fruit – pineapple and mango – with fragrances of honey and floral aromas that continues onto the palate thanks to its outstanding creaminess. Beautiful balance between the freshness at the attack and the sweetness of the whole. A fine liqueur wine in which the sweetness of the fruit is heightened by the freshness of the Petit Manseng grape and which makes a great accompaniment whether for foie gras or ice cream.

    VINTAGE 2015

    TASTING NOTES

This 2015 Escoubasso is a pale yellow hue. The nose is expressive and fruity, a mixture of honey and tropical fruit: bees on an exotic voyage. On the palate, the sweet, pineapple flavours turn to acacia honey, the fluid, sugary notes ending with a hint of citrus fruit. Serve chilled as an aperitif wine, but will also make an ideal match for foie gras or desserts.
