Château Lafont Menaut

As part of the same family that owns one of Bordeaux's best known Classed Growths, Château Carbonnieux, it is hardly surprising that Philibert Perrin has a passion for making good wine. Perrin took over Lafont Menaut 6 years ago. 55% of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc give the wines a good tannic structure. Other hallmarks are very intense smoky, pencil shaving notes on the nose, so typical of Pessac-Léognan. Dependably high in quality, Lafont is a must for every lover of good wine.

This growth does credit to its outstanding terroir with a wine whose charm and richness are evident from the start: a beautiful garnet red in colour and a deliciously complex bouquet which succulently combines toasty notes and ripe black fruits. The palate is creamy and fleshy, with elegant tannins providing a balanced whole, crowned by a long finish. One of the best wines to date from this growth, which improves with each successive year.

A wine to drink young, from 2023, but does have an ageing potential of more than 10 years.
