Château Lamothe - Cuvée Les Tuileries AOC Côtes de Bourg Red - Техническое описание

Château Lamothe - Cuvée Les Tuileries

AOC Côtes de Bourg Red

François Pessonnier’s great-grandfather, already a winegrower in Lansac, bought Château Lamothe and its vineyard back in 1900. The previous owner, Pierre Charpentier, had already boosted sales of the estate’s wines starting in the mid-nineteenth century by exporting them to the United States. In the second edition of Bordeaux and its Wines in 1868, Charles Cocks cites Château Lamothe as one of the Côtes de Bourg crus bourgeois (p328). This means that the family has perpetuated its love of this terroir and its wine for more than 100 years.

A beautiful garnet red. Intense bouquet redolent of blackcurrant and spice. The succulent palate is ample, smooth and full-bodied. A generous, pleasing mid-palate that displays a creamy structure enveloped in chewy extract, with ripe tannins providing a harmonious crowning touch. A wine that is typical of its appellation. A good match for grilled or roasted meat or cheese over an informal meal.

A beautiful dark purple colour, hardly evolved. The generous and expressive bouquet reminds one of fully ripe grapes (blackberries, prunes, confected fruits), and from the ageing (mocca/cedar) with hints of leather and the forest floor. The palate is well balanced, warming at first, ample and full bodied, supported by elegant, ripe tannins. A benchmark Cotes-de-Bourg with the power and elegance of wine made in the modern style, which one can really appreciate, preferably after a few years in bottle.

    To drink from 2016.
