Alter Ego de Palmer

AOC Margaux Red

Produced by the same team and from the same vineyards as Château Palmer, Alter Ego is literally the 'other side' of Palmer, another expression of Palmer. Alter Ego has the distinction and character of Palmer but is made to be drunk much earlier. Merlot is generally the dominant grape variety, making it supple and ready to open within 3 years of the harvest. A great wine with intense fruit, fresh and juicy.

    TASTING NOTES

Charming at every stage of tasting, from the richly appealing palate to the elegant, expressive bouquet (fresh fruit, prune, cassis, mocha and toasty notes). The generous, fleshy and creamy palate is built on a superb tannic base, the Cabernet Sauvignon adding just a hint of spice. You're tempted to enjoy this great wine without further delay, but if you can wait for four to ten years, it will be even more harmonious and complex.

    AGEING

Start drinking from 2006. Will be at its best between 2010 and 2020.

    TASTING NOTES

Tasting notes from Georges LEPRE, 01/02/2009 : « A robust nose of fruit jellies (peaches, sour cherries, plums and blackberries), we can distinguish spices from its time spent in barrels (vanilla and cinnamon), some floral notes (violets), touches of smoke and a mineral aroma. The seductive attack immediately shows its ripe fruit and tender, yet very present, tannins. The wine develops smoothly and retains a flavorful presence that accompanies an irreproachable freshness. It's well balanced and unwavering with a long, delicious finish. This 2006, full of charm, will never abandon its noble origin, rigorous ageing and ideal blending. »
