Château Argadens (d')

AOC Bordeaux Supérieur Red

Since it acquired Château d'Argadens, Maison Sichel has put in place a vast renovation programme, with the aim of making the wine a benchmark within the Bordeaux category. After 12 months in oak barrels, d'Argadens red is a thoroughly modern Bordeaux with lots of concentrated fruit and an attractive, supple balance. Not surprisingly, it gets consistently high marks in tastings and competitions. Château d'Argadens also makes a white wine.

    TASTING NOTES

Profound cherry black in colour. The bouquet is richly expressive with notes of red fruits, blackberry and blackcurrant, and a touch of leather and toasty oak. The palate is round, ample, deliciously flavoursome and displaying remarkable freshness. The tannins are harmoniously balanced, affording fine aromatic length with a predominantly fruity back of palate. This is without a doubt one of the great accomplishments of this vintage, a very fine wine which stands out thanks to its freshness and vivacity. Will drink well after three to four years of bottle-ageing, but will keep for a few years more.

    AGEING

To drink between 2007 and 2011.

    TASTING NOTES

Brilliant crimson in colour. The nose is elegant and redolent of red berried fruit, with underlying leathery notes and a hint of spice - all this accompanied by a stylish, perfectly measured toastiness. The tannins are silky and velvety on the palate, succulently enveloped in elegant extract and beautifully smooth. The harmonious finish offers fine aromatic length, with a charming aftertaste of blackcurrant and vanilla notes. Without any doubt a fine Bordeaux which will start to express its full potential from 2010.

    AGEING

At its best from 2010. This wine has an ageing capacity of 5-6 years.
