Château Valrion AOC Lalande de Pomerol Red - Technical sheet
AOC Lalande de Pomerol Red
The Saujon family have been viticulturalists for more than five generations. The know-how they have accumulated over the decades prompted Michel Saujon, a qualified œnologist and the estate manager, to try out other soils than the calcareous clay of the Entre-Deux-Mers area. His acquisition in 2003 of a gravel terroir in Lalande de Pomerol marked the renaissance of an ancient vineyard. This was the beginning of Château Valrion, the first vintage of which in 2005 encouraged him to continue the experiment and the wines he produced becoming more expressive with every year.
Elegance sums up this 2012 with its crimson colour and brick-hued rim. The delicately oaky nose reveals a fine array of cherry, blackberry and liquorice aromas. A supple, fresh attack heralds in a fruity, mouthfilling mid-palate underpinned by spicy, elegant tannins. A beguilingly fresh and fruity wine.
