A wine of distinction as evident from the first inhalation and confirmed by its deep ruby tints. An astonishing mixture of power, complexity and elegance! Floral notes then emerge, accompanied by raspberry and cassis, and a hint of minerality supplied by its excellent terroir. On the palate, the attack is unwaveringly soft, smooth and focused. The power of this wine gradually invades the palate, but never aggressively. A densely woven structure of fine tannins makes this an opulent, soft and generous wine, yet always focused, and with fine length. One of the Château’s greatest vintages without a doubt!

The promisingly sombre ruby hue of this wine is as intense as its distinguished and elegant bouquet with its black fruit aromas, subtly highlighted by spices and toasty, vanilla notes. The palate is no less charming – generous, ample and elegant, displaying crunchy fruit and underpinned by superb, perfectly smooth tannins that offer remarkable length. Still in its youth, it will attain its full expression after several years of ageing in the bottle.

A tantalising deep ruby hue with dark purple tints! The nose bespeaks youth and combines fresh fruit, blackcurrant and redcurrant, with notes of mild spice. The palate is just as beguiling, nicely but not overly structured and perfectly balanced with extract imparting the texture, depth and elegance typical of any great Margaux! Just the right amount of noble, perfectly smooth tannin underpins a plump palate which is both aromatic and fresh. An outstanding achievement in a difficult, much disparaged vintage.

Beautiful, deeply coloured wine. The initially discreet bouquet opens gradually and quietly to offer a complete array of aromas ranging from notes of cassis, blackberry and spices to violet with a very elegant hint of oak. The hallmarks of the terroir are definitely present on the palate in the elegant, still young tannins, balanced flavours and fine texture. A wine still in the early days of great ageing potential. Once again, this cru is shaking up the hierarchy of the Margaux grands crus.

The deep colour of this wine is the portent of its intensity. The nose is tantalisingly fruity and full of promise. The cassis and blackberry aromas make this a taut wine on the whole, but pervaded by a certain softness. The palate is rounded and creamy, with velvety tannins, ripe fruit and a refreshing touch of acidity that creates a balanced whole, as well as delicate spices which evolve on the palate and lend unique character to this vintage. The finish is long and light as air. The hot late-August weather helped concentrate the grapes after the springtime rains, imparting finesse and rare elegance.
