Château Angludet

AOC Margaux Red

Owned by the Sichel family since1961, Angludet is situated at the heart of the prestigious appellation of Margaux and surrounded by Cru Classé properties. It is the responsibility of Benjamin Sichel, whose constant quest for quality is reflected in his policy of drastically limiting the yield of each vine plant and finding the natural balance of the entire vineyard, in order to get the best expression of this exceptional terroir in every glass. Angludet's wines enjoy a worldwide reputation for their elegance, aromatic finesse and their exceptional ageing potential.

    ДЕГУСТАЦИОННЫЕ ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ

A wine of distinction as evident from the first inhalation and confirmed by its deep ruby tints. An astonishing mixture of power, complexity and elegance! Floral notes then emerge, accompanied by raspberry and cassis, and a hint of minerality supplied by its excellent terroir. On the palate, the attack is unwaveringly soft, smooth and focused. The power of this wine gradually invades the palate, but never aggressively. A densely woven structure of fine tannins makes this an opulent, soft and generous wine, yet always focused, and with fine length. One of the Château’s greatest vintages without a doubt!

    ДЕГУСТАЦИОННЫЕ ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ

Following the great vintages of 2009 and 2010, the 2011 is viewed as a "difficult” vintage in Bordeaux, not naturally inclined to harmony and balance between the flavour, richness and complexity. It is in this context, in particular where the notion of balance is concerned, that Château Angludet 2011 stands out. The harmony between its various components – aromatic intensity, volume, mouthfeel and length – creates real synergy. This wine is “just right”! – thanks to perfectly controlled extraction during fermentation. For each variety and each block, just how much extract to obtain was calculated as precisely as possible to get the very best result. We considered the potential of each and every vat. For example, the Merlot which generally lacks concentration and volume, was fermented so as to extract the fruit and roundness without worrying about the volume, which we knew would be supplied by the Cabernet. Vinification of the Petit Verdot was geared to imparting depth. This “Goldilocks” balance is illustrated in the flavour of its components – there is taste in the structure and taste in the tannins.

    ХРАНЕНИЕ

This balance will make the wine ready for drinking while rather young – between 6 and 8 years – but also gives it interesting cellaring potential thanks to its wonderfully dense structure.

    ДЕГУСТАЦИОННЫЕ ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ

The promisingly sombre ruby hue of this wine is as intense as its distinguished and elegant bouquet with its black fruit aromas, subtly highlighted by spices and toasty, vanilla notes. The palate is no less charming – generous, ample and elegant, displaying crunchy fruit and underpinned by superb, perfectly smooth tannins that offer remarkable length. Still in its youth, it will attain its full expression after several years of ageing in the bottle.

    ХРАНЕНИЕ

Can be drunk from 2016; will be at its peak after more than ten years’ bottle-ageing.

    ДЕГУСТАЦИОННЫЕ ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ

A tantalising deep ruby hue with dark purple tints! The nose bespeaks youth and combines fresh fruit, blackcurrant and redcurrant, with notes of mild spice. The palate is just as beguiling, nicely but not overly structured and perfectly balanced with extract imparting the texture, depth and elegance typical of any great Margaux! Just the right amount of noble, perfectly smooth tannin underpins a plump palate which is both aromatic and fresh. An outstanding achievement in a difficult, much disparaged vintage.

    ХРАНЕНИЕ

Will need about three years for its true depth and aromas to come to the fore, after which the typical expression of its “terroir” will go on developing for the next ten years.

    ДЕГУСТАЦИОННЫЕ ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ

“The first impression, provided by its sombre hue, is one of richness: this wine breathes sunshine! It has a dense, unctuous appearance in the glass. The nose confirms this richness and density with a hint of timidity, but the deep fruitiness is there, revealing fine aromatic intensity. The palate is mouthfillingly complete, while the aromatic length in the structure displays remarkable balance: you do not endure the tannins, you taste them! An elegant texture develops from its soft, dark depths. Definitely a wine with huge potential.” Benjamin Sichel – October 2016

    ХРАНЕНИЕ

Cellared for at least 4-5 years, it will gain complexity and make a delightful accompaniment to an informal meal.

    ДЕГУСТАЦИОННЫЕ ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ

Beautiful, deeply coloured wine. The initially discreet bouquet opens gradually and quietly to offer a complete array of aromas ranging from notes of cassis, blackberry and spices to violet with a very elegant hint of oak. The hallmarks of the terroir are definitely present on the palate in the elegant, still young tannins, balanced flavours and fine texture. A wine still in the early days of great ageing potential. Once again, this cru is shaking up the hierarchy of the Margaux grands crus.
