AOC Saint-Estèphe Red

Just a stone’s throw from Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe is one of the most southerly villages in the Upper Médoc region. It enjoys an exceptional situation on the banks of the Gironde. The vines are planted on a succession of low hills overlooking the river. The soils are generally well drained. The rugged topography makes these relatively elevated, gravel knolls composed of quartz and pebbles ideal for wine-growing. The wines are very powerful and richly tannic.

    VINTAGE 2020

    TASTING NOTES

    A very beautiful sustained garnet colour for this charming wine, which will seduce you with its expressive nose offering a wide aromatic palette with notes of red fruits, vanilla, tobacco, enhanced by a touch of undergrowth. Beautiful silky volume on the palate. The touch of Petit Verdot brings freshness and finesse to the tannins. A typical wine of the appellation, which combines charm, elegance and finesse. To be enjoyed with roast meats, poultry, game and cheeses.

    AGEING

    It is drinking well now but will age well for the next 5 to 7 years.

    TASTING NOTES

    An intense dark red, this Saint-Estèphe bears the mark of its terroir: a subtle nose with complex aromas of black fruits (blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant), enhanced by spicy, vanilla and lightly roasted nuances. The opulent and refined palate presents a melted structure, typical of Cabernet Sauvignon harvested at perfect maturity, but also fruity aromas, brought by the Merlot and perfectly accompanied by toasted notes from perfectly dosed barrel aging. The finish is carried by the characteristic freshness of the vintage. This 2021 turns out to be elegant, gourmand and velvety.

    AGEING

    To be enjoyed from 2023 but will be patient to offer you new taste sensations.
